The official website of the anime movie adapting Tetsuko Kuroyanagi’s Madogiwa no Totto-chan (Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window) autobiographical novel revealed the lead cast, a trailer, and teaser visual (pictured) on Tuesday.
Liliana Oono is starring as the main character Totto-chan after winning an audition. The movie will premiere in theaters in Japan on December 8.

Kuroyanagi penned Madogiwa no Totto-chan in 1981, which became an instant bestseller in post-war Japan. The title has also been published in 35 countries and won the Janusz Korczak Award in Poland in 1985. As of March 2021, the novel has a cumulative circulation of 23 million copies worldwide.
Synopsis
This engaging series of childhood recollections tells about an ideal school in Tokyo during World War II that combined learning with fun, freedom, and love. This unusual school had old railroad cars for classrooms, and it was run by an extraordinary man—its founder and headmaster, Sousaku Kobayashi—who was a firm believer in freedom of expression and activity.
